Assisted Suicide is Not Legal

2025—HB 598/ SB 640, which would legalize medically-assisted suicide, were introduced. HB598 was rejected by the Population Health Subcommittee of the Health Committee. SB 640 was referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee but did not progress.

2024—HB1710 (sponsor Rep. Bob Freeman) and SB2258 (sponsor Sen. Heidi Campbell), which would legalize physician-assisted suicide, are introduced and assigned to committees but neither advance.

2017—HB394 /SB1378, which would legalize physician-assisted suicide, are introduced but do not advance.
