Assisted Suicide bill passed the legislature and is awaiting governor action

2025—SB 1950 (”End of Life Options for Terminally Ill Patients Act” that replaced the Sanitary Food Preparation Act via a striker amendment) passes the Senate on 10/31 by 30-27. It heads to the desk of Governor JB Pritzker.

2024—”End of Life Option Act” (SB 3499) to legalize assisted suicide introduced in the Senate, placed in Subcommittee on End-of-Life Issues, no further action.

1997—Physician-assisted suicide bills introduced in both chambers, neither advances.
