Board Members



Dr. Charles Bentz Charles J. Bentz, MD, FACP is the President of PCCEF
He is a general internist and works as a clinician / teacher / health-services researcher in the internal medicine residency at Providence | St. Vincent Hospital Medical Center in Portland, Oregon, where he directs the “Palliative and End of Life Care” curriculum.

 

 

Dr. Ken Stevens Kenneth R. Stevens, MD is the Vice-President of PCCEF.
He is Professor Emeritus and former chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Oregon. He is also a prolific writer, and past president of PCCEF. His recent publication (Emotional and Psychological Effects of Physician-Assisted Suicide and Euthanasia on Participating Physicians) is a significant contribution to the literature. 

 

 

Dr. William Toffler William L. Toffler, MD is the National Director of PCCEF.
He is a Professor of Family Medicine at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Toffler’s papers and interviews have received national and international recognition. He is also a veteran educator and Director of the largest course in the OHSU’s medical school—Principles of Clinical Medicine. His teaching ability, leadership and innovation in this course were recognized by the STFM Award for excellence in the development of an original educational program.

 

 

Allison Connolly Allison Connolly is the Executive Director of PCCEF.
She has been with the organization for more than six years planning, supporting and implementing the foundations’ activities and managing the office. Her organizational skills have been a large factor in the growth and success of the PCCEF as it carries out its mission to enhance care at the end of life.

 

 

Dr. Thomas Pitre Thomas M. Pitre, MD is an active Board Member of PCCEF.
He is a practicing urologist at the NW Urology Clinic in Portland, Oregon.  Dr. Pitre is past Medical Staff President of Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland, Past President of the Oregon Urological Society, and continues to serve on the clinical faculty of Oregon Health and Science University.
